The 8th of June marked World Oceans Day, a day used to highlight the importance of ocean conservation and the impact of human activity on marine ecosystems.
This year the theme centred around catalyzing action for our ocean and climate, and for the triple-p team, this action must be around RIVERS.
Rivers are the lifeblood of our planet, and in the context of oceans, provide freshwater nutrients to marine ecosystems. However, human activities have turned rivers into conduits for pollution, harming ocean health and threatening the life of our planet – and ourselves!
Our work looks at empowering communities through initiatives like Citizen Science Programs and promoting river conservation and awareness about river pollution through water quality testing sessions, educational workshops, and training programs.
“Through community engagement, we foster a culture of stewardship and promote collective action for river conservation which in turn and ocean health,” Ntswaki Ditlhale – Founder, Advocate & Managing Director of triple-P.
