As 2024 National Water Week draws to a close, the triple-P team took some time to reflect on this year’s theme of Water For Peace and South Africa’s reality of water scarcity.
Already deemed a water-scarce country, South Africa faces the added issues of infrastructure failure and poverty which exacerbates the challenge of access to clean water and has most recently resulted in intensified conflicts in several communities. Engaging with communities on the front line of this reality, triple-P continues to work on ways to implement water provision and water conservation projects across South Africa.
Thanks to our partners we have been able to:
- Provide over 3 million litres of clean and safe water drinking water to affected communities.
- Save over 39 million litres of water by repairing and replacing old infrastructure in affected communities.
- Educate people about water scarcity and conservation and how to manage this in their communities.
For the triple-P team this is an ongoing endeavor so PARTNER WITH US as we work step by step brings positive change to communities and the country.
The theme of Water For Peace also highlights climate change and population growth as some of the factors affecting the efficient supply of water and its availability, creating an urgent need for the country to unite around protecting and conserving water as a precious resource.
